2004 Grants

This fund was established in 2001 as a trust fund set up by Erin Berry’s father, Larry Berry. The Trust Account is meant to help Junior players 19 or younger with expenses incurred to attend bridge events. The Trustees of the Erin Berry Memorial Fund met in St. Catharines, ON in June and made the following 2004 grants to Canadian Youth Bridge players:

Anton Blagov
$ 875.00 to help with expenses incurred while attending the 2004 New York NABC and the 2004 World Schools Team Championship in New York.

Daniel Lavee
$ 1,080.00 to help with expenses incurred while attending the 2004 New York NABC and the 2004 World Schools Team Championship in New York, and $ 500.00 to help with expenses incurred while attending various other Regionals during the spring of 2004.

2003 Grants

This fund was established in 2001 as a trust fund set up by Erin Berry’s father, Larry Berry. The Trust Account is meant to help Juniors 19 or younger with expenses incurred attending bridge events. For 2003 the Erin Berry Memorial fund received applications from five eligible Juniors. The following awards were made in 2003:

Samantha Nystrom, Vancouver, BC: $1,100 - to assist with expenses incurred in travelling to the 2003 Canadian Bridge Week, Penticton Regional and Fall NABC in New Orleans. Pictured at right is Samantha wearing her silver medal, won in the CWTC during Bridge Week.

Erin Anderson, Regina, SK: $600 - to assist with expenses incurred with travelling to Toronto for the CBF Junior Coaching weekend.

Vincent Demuy, Montreal, QC: $600 - to assist with expenses incurred with travelling to Toronto for the CBF Junior Coaching weekend and 2003 Canadian Bridge Week and Penticton Regional. Vincent won Gold in the CNTC during Bridge Week.

Charles Halasi, Toronto, ON: $400 - to assist with expenses incurred with travelling to a Canadian Junior team practise at the London Regional.

Daniel Lavee, Toronto, ON: $1,500 - to assist with expenses incurred with travelling to Spring and Summer NABC’s in Philadelphia and Long Beach.

2002 Grants

For 2002 the Erin Berry Memorial Fund received applications from four eligible Juniors. The following awards were made:

Erin Anderson - $640 - to assist with expenses of attending the following events: Junior Scholarship Game held at Houston NABC and attending the Washington, DC NABC.

Vincent Demuy - $2,170 - to assist with expenses of attending the following events: Feb. Toronto Sectional, Toronto Regional, Kingston Regional, Washington DC NABC, two practise sessions in Toronto, World Championships in Montreal and Carrousel Cup (Junior competition) in the Netherlands.

Daniel Lavee - $1,234 - to assist with expenses of attending the following events: Carrousel Cup (Junior competition) in the Netherlands, Washington, DC NABC and the World Championships in Montreal.

Gavin Wolpert - $1,151 - - to assist with expenses of attending the following events: Carrousel Cup (Junior competition) in the Netherlands, Washington, DC NABC and the World Championships in Montreal.

Total awards in 2002 were $5,195 which were a result of the interest earned on the account in 2001 plus a carryover of intersted earned in 2000 that was not awarded to anyone.
